Growing up, my favorite song was “You Are My Sunshine,” and I still sing it every night. The word “sunshine” would even describe my personality…happy and always trying to find something to smile about. I was the roommate you didn’t want in college. I would wake up at 7 a.m., singing a happy tune while living on little sleep. My music shuffles from country to gangster rap to Christian. Listening to music, reading, spending time with family and friends, and going to the beach make me happy! My friends even nicknamed me Pollyanna… I don’t know why!
For years, I’ve had a dream of starting a T-shirt company and wanted to include my love of family, music, reading, and Jesus. I love making people smile, and what better way to do that than through clothing! I want people to wear the things they are most passionate about. I want to bring people together. But most of all, I want to bring out the sunshine on the cloudiest of days. Sunshine & Cash was born to do just that.
Named after my own children, the company name is close to my heart. My daughter is my sunshine, and my son—although he calls himself “Cashman Money”—is Cash.
I founded Sunshine & Cash in 2018. Born and raised in Kentucky, I moved to Chicago right out of college, where I met my husband, Luke. Like any true Kentucky girl, bourbon, basketball, and horses are passions of mine. Luke was born a cheesehead but moved to the suburbs of Chicago as a child. We met one Friday afternoon in Chicago while playing a friendly game of Golden Tee. After 13 years, 2 kids, a dog, and one World Series Championship for the Cubs, my family decided to move south where the weather is warmer, the tea is sweeter, and the grass is Kentucky Bluegrass. :) Sunshine & Cash is based in Louisville, KY. All shirts are designed by me and hand-printed in the ‘ville. And because we want our sun to shine for others, a portion of all sales will be donated to do just that. In January, we will be announcing our partnership with a very special organization. So every time you wear a Sunshine & Cash shirt, you are also providing help to someone that might need that ray of sunshine. Thank you!
